How to encourage the delivery of programming through independent and collaborative learning
Use Logo (for example, through use of Bee Bots or Pixies) and products such as J2Code and 2Code to get started, encourage children to work together and provide support to allow them to use these resources to learn programming at their own pace. Continue the approach using a 'friendly' programming language such as Scratch, setting tasks and giving access to relevant learning resources such as video clips which learners can use as and when required, individually and in pairs or small groups, to develop at their own pace. Extend to other languages as appropriate: investigate a games programming language such as Kodu, or a more complex language such as Alice, and include a control language such as Flowol or Lego.Help children to become familiar with a wide range of hardware and software at school and at home so that they are able to choose the best tools needed to carry out a task
