One of the applications that doesn't run on an iPad is Scratch*. Julian Coultas ran a hands-on workshop at BETT 2014 on programming on the iPad. His notes are here.
* It is possible to run Flash based content by using a special browser. Full list is here. However unless you have a very fast broadband connection the results are likely to be frustrating with multiple connections.

| The iPad apps listed in Julian Coultas's notes are excellent examples of programming tools which can be used on an iPad. The Bee Bots apps are an ideal place to start programming and they can be used in association with the Bee Bot robot devices which many schools already use. Daisy the Dinosaur is also good for young children, and it leads neatly into Hopscotch which is similar to Scratch (although it does have a much more limited range of tools to offer). |

| Have always been a fan of Swallow Systems : Pip, Pixie and Pippin. Not sure if they are still in business. Website at www.swallow.co.uk but hasn't been updated since 2012. Anyone know if they are still in business?
