There are 2 implementations of j2e - the original and the new version that uses HTML5 (hence the name). What are the differences and which one should I use?The original j2e uses Java and will work in any browser that is capable of using Java. For instance it works with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome on Windows computers but does not work on iPads. If you want to print out your presentation or turn it into a pdf file then use j2e - it has a 'save as paper' option. It has had a much longer development time and therefore has considerably more features. For instance you can analyse children's writing, use the maths tools to show lengths and angles, and use pins and stickers. No doubt these features will be included in j2e5 in time. There is also a difference in the way shapes work. In j2e5 a shape such as a cross is a cross. You can change the ratios but not the shape. In the original j2e you can click on 'Convert to Shape' and then edit the points to create a different shape. However there are some features in j2e5 which are not present in the original. Tables is perhaps the most obvious but text borders - with rounded corners - is a useful addition. Finally the provision for creating a slide show in j2e5 is the most major difference, and the most powerful.
