The BBC has announced that it will be giving a 'free' mini-computer to every pupil starting secondary school in September.
The 'Micro-Bit' is not seen as a rival to the Raspberry Pi. They are working with several partners, including chip-designer Arm, Microsoft and Samsung. When it is launched it will be compatible with three coding languages - Touch Develop, Python and C++.
The BBC will also broadcast a season of coding-based programmes and activities.
