Wireless networking has improved by leaps and bounds over the last decade and improvements to the current technology are still desirable, especially in schools. For pupils to have one to one mobile technology, the wi-fi system needs to be the best that is available. But even then it may not be able to cope. Researchers at Oxford University are investigating using visible light to provide superfast local networking. If and when this research comes to fruition it should make one to one mobile technology in schools a far more practical scenario. Click here for more information.
