This interactive whiteboard software has several advantages. See: www.easychalk.euAs it is online (and you can use your j2e login if you have one), it is easy to prepare lessons at school, on the train or at home - anywhere. If you create a bank of useful resources and then change schools to one which has a different 'brand' of IWB then you can still use all of your resources. If you use an interactive projector such as the Epson EB485wi then you won't need Smart Notebook, Active Inspire et al.

Easychalk is remarkably similar to Smart Notebook; it may lack a few features of the Smart software, but I think that it is more responsive as a browser-based tool and the link to J2E has great potential. It works well on an iPad as well as a PC. If it opens in a German language version, it is easy to switch to the English version - just click on the German flag in the bottom left corner and select the UK flag from the list that appears (choice of languages could be an advantage in a school of course).
